A chip for the farmer who carried the gear,
A chip for the hug that held my fear,
A chip for the legs that jogged for help,
A chip for Sue’s strident, stoical self,
A chip for the Gairloch paramedics who answered my call,
A chip for the bag that broke her fall,
A chip for Shona’s endless tea and toast,
A chip for the Birch-specked Torridon coast,
A chip for the helicopter, the winch and the rope,
A chip for morphine, for friends and hope,
A chip for George the orphaned lamb,
A chip for Bonny, for pancakes and jam,
A chip for oxygen, splints and braces,
A chip for Scotland’s wild, wild places
A Ginger beer for kindness
A veggie burger for the NHS

We were walking near Gairloch and a friend fell and had to be airlifted out. After the trauma of the accident we ate heartily to soothe our traumatised nerves.
