I haven’t done much walking in Fife and this gentle walk took in some beautiful woodland, rocky headlands, several beaches and a swim – and accessible by public transport, which is always a bonus. We started and finished at Aberlour station and were delighted to feel the warmth of far more sun than had been forecast. Silver Sands, complete with a cabin selling beach tat, was busy with families and holiday makers and even has a section watched by lifegaurds. Catherine told me that she used to come here on Parish outings as a kid. The water was a bit murky, but warm in patches – the first time either of us had experienced that his year. We checked out a few other potential swimspots – off the rocks at the headland just after Silver Sands and the much quieter Aberdour Black Sands beach.
Humbie woods are delightful, and I revelled in the dappled light!
