1,2,3 What Do You See?

June 14, 2020 Filed Under: Making, Nature, Poetry

Sing 1,2,3, what do you see?
I see a wood without a tree,
I see plastic filling up the deep blue sea
I see a screaming catastrophe

Sing 1,2,3, what do you see?
I see some apple blossom needing a bee,
I see some kids with a hand drawn plea,
I see a blood-soaked tragedy

Sing 1,2, 3 what do you see?
I see the black oil rising from under the sea,
I see some bankers dripping with glee,
I see the climate reality

Sing 1,2,3 what do you see?
I see wheels and deals and profit and loss,
I see politicians who don’t give a toss,
I see the melting permafrost,
I see young folk incandescently cross,
At a future that is nearly lost

Sing 1,2,3 what do you see?
I see young folk rising up from the heart,
I see speeches flying sharp as a dart,
I see politicians making a start
It takes more than declaring an emergency!

Sing 1,2,3 what do you see?
Sing 1,2,3 what do you see?
